With stocks at a critical level, Fundação Pró-Sangue is asking the population of São Paulo to donate blood and do so before getting vaccinated against the Influenza virus. This is because people who received immunization against the flu must wait for 48 hours and only then will they be able to donate blood. The Pro-Sangue Foundation’s appeal stems from the fact that stock levels of blood bags are low. The institution is operating at less than 40% of its capacity. Blood types O-, O+ and B- are at emergency level, sufficient for less than a day. Already the blood types A- and B+ are critical, enough for one day. And blood types A+ and AB- are at an alert level. For the donation, the candidate cannot have taken the flu vaccine in the last 48 hours, cannot have ingested alcoholic beverages in the last 12 hours and cannot weigh less than 50 kg. He also cannot have the flu or a cold. Candidates must be between 16 and 69 years old and in good health and well fed. He also needs to carry the original ID with recent photo. For those who can donate blood, the foundation requests that they make an appointment first through the website, where doubts about the donation can also be taken.
