Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined this Friday (21) the breach of secrecy of the images of the Institutional Security Office (GSI) captured during the invasion of the Planalto Palace on January 8. With the decision, all recordings must be sent to the ongoing investigation of the Court. The determination was made after the interim management of the GSI informed the Supreme Court that an investigation was opened on January 26 by the body to investigate the conduct of agents who were in service, but the images of the action of the vandals were not disclosed due to the secrecy of the investigation. In the same decision, Moraes also ordered the Federal Police (PF) to carry out, within 48 hours, the testimony of all GSI employees who were identified after recordings released by CNN Brasil show the former GSI minister Gonçalves Dias and other servers in the interior of the Planalto Palace during the coup acts. In the decision, the minister stated that he had already determined that all images of the invasion should be attached to the investigation of the acts that he is processing at the Supreme Court. Responsibility For Moraes, the recordings are necessary to determine the criminal responsibility of those involved. “Therefore, there is no secrecy of the images, based on the Access to Information Law, above all because they are absolutely necessary for the judicial protection of fundamental rights, for the democratic and republican regime, which were cowardly disrespected in the criminal attack on our democracy, on the 8th of 01/2023”, wrote the minister. Alexandre de Moraes stressed that the investigation into the coup acts also investigates the responsibilities of civil and military agents who were colluding with the acts. “The investigation of coup acts is not restricted only to individuals and civil and military public agents who criminally intended to cause a rupture of the Democratic State of Law, in an attempt to violate fundamental rights and the separation of powers, but also in the identification and accountability of the conduct of all those, including civil and military public agents, who, during the consummation of the criminal offenses of 1/8 or later, commissively or omissively, were conniving or failing to exercise their legal attributions”, he concluded. Earlier, former GSI minister Gonçalves Dias testified to the Federal Police (PF) in Brasília. The deposition was determined yesterday (20) by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who gave a period of 48 hours for the deposition to be carried out.
