President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva announced this Saturday (22) the setting up of an office for the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) in Lisbon. According to the president, the measure will “show the seriousness of the relationship between Brazil and Portugal”. with the participation of the Prime Minister of Portugal, António Costa, and 13 agreements were signed in the areas of education, justice, health, economy and culture. Another agreement in the area of education provides for the creation of the Portuguese School of São Paulo. The two heads of government reaffirmed their commitment, in terms of Public Health, to development and innovation in the areas of Health and Biotechnology, ” with a special focus on epidemiological surveillance, preparedness and response to public health emergencies, digital health, and the development and production of health equipment”. In the field of human rights, there were two terms: one for the protection of witnesses in criminal proceedings and another that establishes good practices in the promotion and defense of the rights of people with disabilities. The Portuguese Space Agency and the Brazilian Space Agency have signed cooperation on the peaceful use of space, space sciences and technologies. The Ministers of Culture of Portugal and Brazil also signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of cinema, with the participation of the National Film Agency (Ancine), with a focus on promoting film production in Portugal and Brazil, through the co-financing of projects of the two countries. The two countries also signed a memorandum of understanding to promote the mutual recognition of driving titles (driver’s licenses). Memorandums were also signed in the areas of Energy, Geology and Mines, in addition to the cooperation between Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) and Agência Lusa.
