The Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, said today (23) that an agreement signed with Portugal will facilitate the recognition of primary and secondary education diplomas in that country. The agreement was signed this Saturday (22) by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva during an official trip to the country. It is a complement to the Treaty of Friendship signed between the two countries on April 22, 2000, on equivalence of studies in Brazil (primary and secondary education) and in Portugal (primary and secondary education). According to Santana, who is in the presidential entourage in Lisbon, the agreement aims to reduce bureaucracy in the process of recognizing studies by Brazilians who live in Portugal and Portuguese people who live in Brazil. Currently, according to the minister, around 5,000 processes are being processed at the Brazilian embassy for recognition of studies. Among the measures to speed up requests are automatic recognition and electronic (online) processing of processes. “This will make it easier. The same equivalent year in Brazil will be recognized here [em Portugal] automatically”, he said. During an interview, the Minister of Education also said that the Brazilian government intends to resume an agreement for teacher training in Portugal. “We want to resume training Brazilian teachers in Portugal. We have hundreds of agreements with Brazilian and Portuguese universities, as well as the revalidation of higher education courses. Let’s discuss and see if at the next summit meeting, next year, we can deal with this issue”, he said. Enem 2023 Regarding the holding of the National High School Examination (Enem) this year, Santana reiterated that the tests will not be affected by the government’s decision to suspend the schedule for the new secondary education, approved in 2017. The minister informed that, based on the conclusions of the report that will be prepared after the suspension of the rules, the norms for the 2024 exam will be defined. , the tests will be applied on December 5 and 12. “The Enem does not change. It would no longer change in 2023. As it was suspended, for the time being, the same national exam for Brazilian students remains, “he concluded.
