Black researchers from all over Brazil can now apply for the Postdoctoral Scholarships for Black Researchers. There are 50 grants worth R$ 8,479.20 per month. The contribution lasts for 12 months, with the possibility of extension for the same period. Scholarships are offered by the Pro-Rectory of Inclusion and Belonging (PRIP), in partnership with the Pro-Rectory of Research and Innovation (PRPI). To enroll, the candidate must be Brazilian, have completed a doctorate and have phenotypic traits that characterize him as black or brown. The objective of the program is to contribute to the racial diversification of the contingent of black postdocs, and thus increase the chances of racial and gender diversification of professors at the University of São Paulo (USP) and at all Brazilian universities. Selection USP informed that projects aimed at expanding and redefining themes, problems and approaches related to all areas of knowledge will be selected. The selection of scholarship holders will be made through evaluation of the Work Plan, by academic merit, by contribution to the development of research and advancement of knowledge in their area of incidence, and by curriculum/experience evaluation in the area chosen for project development. The scholarship holder will also receive an additional amount of 10% of the scholarship value referring to the technical reserve, which can be used to pay per diems and airline tickets, participation in events, publication of articles and purchase of consumables for research. Applications can be made until May 10th, by completing the online form and sending an updated Lattes curriculum, recent photograph, racial self-declaration, research project and work plan. The complete announcement is available on the Pro-Rectory of Inclusion and Belonging page. The first initiative of this type at USP began in September of last year, when an invitation to tender was launched exclusively for black postdoctoral students, which aroused the interest of researchers across the country. In all, 268 projects were submitted and three were selected.
