This Tuesday (25), federal police are executing eight search and seizure warrants, in addition to blocking assets, to combat the trade in illegally extracted gold from the Yanomami Indigenous Territory (TI), in Roraima. According to the Federal Police, investigations began after the Army arrested prospectors who carried out illegal activities on the TI in 2020. They were taken to the PF, where they confessed to whom they sold the gold. “The police investigation points out that the group would have moved more than R$ 30 million in four years and, through shell companies or with regular activities unrelated to mining, would receive amounts from several states of the country”, informed the PF. According to the investigations, in order not to arouse suspicion, those involved withdrew large sums in fractions. The warrants for Operation Ponte de Ouro were issued by the 4th Federal Criminal Court of the Federal Court in Roraima.
