Ferroviária is back at the top of the A1 Series (first division) of the Brazilian Women’s Football Championship. This Sunday (30), the Guerreiras Grenás beat Grêmio by 4-1, at the Airton Ferreira da Silva Stadium, in Eldorado do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, for the ninth round of the competition. The triumph took the Paulistas to the same 24 points as Flamengo, ahead of the red-black team by goal difference (20 to 14). The Grêmio girls continue with ten points, in 11th place, four points from the G8 (eight first placed, which would qualify for the quarterfinals if the championship ended today) and three from Z4 (the four worst teams in the table, which would be relegated to Serie A2 at this time). Ferroviária opened the scoring with a great goal by Aline Gomes, from outside the area, in the 36th minute of the first half. At 44 minutes, midfielder Rafa Levis equaled, taking a penalty. In the second stage, striker Mylena Carioca came off the bench to decide the Grená triumph, with goals in the 12th and 28th minutes. In the additions, Aline Gomes still wrote down the fourth of the Paulistas. Ferroviária’s next commitment will be precisely the duel with Flamengo, next Sunday (7), at Arena da Fonte Luminosa, in Araraquara (SP), at 4 pm (Brasília time). Alvinegro triumphs In a duel simultaneously with that of Eldorado do Sul, Santos defeated Internacional in Vila Belmiro, also by 2 to 1. Sereias da Vila reached the same 17 points as Palmeiras, but are in sixth place, behind their rivals, for having smaller goal difference (11 to 26). Gurias Coloradas, with 19 points, are in fourth place. The hosts took the lead with Cristiane, suffered a tie with also striker Priscila, but defensive midfielder Brena secured the victory for the Alvinegras, in Santos (SP). Santos and Inter return to play next Saturday (6). The coloradas face Palmeiras at Morada dos Quero-Queros, in Alvorada (RS), at 11am. Later, at 3 pm, the Santos fans take the Cruzeiro at Sesc Alterosas, in Belo Horizonte. The Cabulosas, by the way, were thrashed this Sunday. Playing at Parque São Jorge, in São Paulo, the mineiras lost 7-1 to Corinthians, who recovered from the defeat to Inter, suffered last Monday (24). Brabas ended the round in third place, with 22 points, while Cruzeirenses, with 14 points, appear in eighth place. The victory was almost entirely built in the first half, in a great performance by Gabi Zanotti. The 38-year-old midfielder, who has spent the past six months nursing an ankle injury, has returned to action with four goals. Lateral Yasmin and striker Jheniffer also scored in the first 45 minutes. Already in the final stage, Duda Sampaio scored another one for the alvinegras, while Vanessinha cashed out for Cruzeiro. Next Sunday, Corinthians will face the classic against São Paulo. The duel is scheduled for the Tricolor Training Center, in Cotia (SP), at 11am.
