Ministry will trigger PF after aggression in supermarket in Bahia

The Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Silvio Almeida, said this Monday (8) that the ministry will adopt strict measures in relation to the case of aggression against a black couple in a supermarket in Salvador, on Friday (5). The folder will activate the Ministry of Justice and Public Security and the Federal Police to discuss the regulation of security companies in Brazil. The National Committee for the Prevention and Combat of Torture will also be called upon to take action on this and other similar cases. On another front, the portfolio will propose the criminal liability of companies for discriminatory practices. Also this Monday, a meeting is scheduled with deputy Luizianne Lins, president of the Commission on Human Rights, Minorities and Racial Equality of the Chamber of Deputies, so that “speed is given to bills that are being processed in the House that deal with practices discrimination, which were even the object of the commission of black jurists”. Understand the case In images that circulated on social media this weekend, a man and a woman appear leaning against a wall while being assaulted and humiliated when asked about the alleged theft. When confirming, the woman says that she took bags of powdered milk “because her daughter needs it”. On Saturday night (6), through Twitter, Carrefour stated that it had not been possible to identify the aggressors until that moment. In a video released in the same post, the director of Risks, Loss Prevention, Safety and Quality at the company, Claudionor Alves, argued that the episode is “unacceptable”. “Two people were cowardly attacked outside the store, and this fact caused us deep indignation. It is unacceptable that a crime like this took place outside our store. For this reason, we assumed the responsibility of disconnecting the leadership and prevention team, in addition to terminating the contract with the company responsible for the security of the external area, where the violence took place”, said the director.
