The electricity transmission lines of the Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) were the main factor in the air crash that killed singer Marília Mendonça and four other people, in November 2021, in the district of Piedade de Caratinga, in the municipality of Caratinga (MG). The conclusion is contained in the final report presented, this Monday (15), by the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents (Cenipa), a military body subordinated to the Air Force Command. The accident report also ruled out human error by the pilot of the Geraldo Martins de Medeiros aircraft, and mechanical and operational failures of the aircraft. The final report on the expertise made by Cenipa was presented to the lawyers and families of the five victims, this afternoon. The document will be available to the public later on Monday. Cenipa also clarifies that the investigations carried out do not seek to establish guilt or responsibility of anyone. The objective is to understand the circumstances of the accident in order to improve flight safety measures, prevent further air accidents and, consequently, preserve lives. After the presentation of the document, the lawyer Robson Cunha, who represents the families of the singer and also the uncle and advisor of the artist Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, commented on the next steps. “If they [os cabos] are within an area or not likely to have this identification is what we are now going to deal with in the judicial sphere”. The lawyer also asked for speed in concluding the inquiry by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais. “I even make an outcry for there to be speed in the delivery of this police inquiry. Because, from then on, we will be able to express ourselves. We will be able to have the opportunity, in the process, to deal with this matter” The accident The singer Marília Mendonça and the other people died after the crash of the Beech Aircraft model aircraft, prefix PT-ONJ, moments before landing.
