The title of the 10th edition of the Copa Verde begins to be decided this Wednesday night (17) with the unprecedented confrontation between three-time champions Paysandu and Goiás, at Mangueirão, in Belém, a stadium reopened last month after renovation. The ball rolls from 8 pm (Brasília time) in the first game of the final, and the last one will be on May 31, in Goiânia. The two matches will be broadcast live on TV Brasil, in partnership with TV Cultura do Pará. Our strength is our union! Let’s go together, Faithful! The tournament started in February this year, with 24 clubs from the North and Midwest regions, in addition to teams from Espírito Santo. The first duel of the final will put teams with different realities face to face. While Papão competes in the third division, Esmeraldino is in the elite of Brazilian football. Despite the differences, Paysandu is the biggest champion of the Copa Verde, along with Cuiabá. The club from Pará lifted the cup in 2016, 2018 and last year. Alviverde is looking for its first title in the competition. Two decades have gone by since Goiás won the defunct Centro-Oeste Cup three times in a row (from 2000 to 2001). ⚽🥅 Hello, hello @Paysandu and @goiasoficial fans: there will be a #CopaVerde final on our small screen, in partnership with @portalcultura. Goiás, commanded by coach Emerson Ávila, arrives at the match with high morale, after having beaten Botafogo, leader of the Brasileirão, by 2-1, on Sunday (14). Papão, coach Marquinhos Santos, suffered a thrashing (5-0) against Ypiranga, last Thursday (11), for the third round of Serie C. The Copa Verde regulations do not have an away goal criterion in the final . If there is a tie on the aggregate score (sum of the results of the home and away games) the definition of the title will take place on penalties.
