The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock determined the collection of four batches of beans unfit for human consumption. The products are from the brands Da Mamãe and Sanes. According to the folder, the products had a percentage greater than 15%, the permitted limit, of moldy and burned bean grains (fermented), which represents poor quality and risk to the health of consumers. “These grains may contain mycotoxins that are harmful to the body, causing food poisoning and allergic reactions”, explains the director of the Department of Inspection of Products of Plant Origin, Hugo Caruso, according to a note released by the ministry. The lots were identified in a previous operation by Mapa, which seized more than 150 tons in the state of Rio de Janeiro. After laboratory analysis, it was confirmed that they did not meet quality and safety standards for consumption. Improper beans were found in the state of Rio de Janeiro and in the Federal District. The batches are: batch 51 of colored beans and batch 06 of black beans, both from the Da Mamãe brand; and lots 030423 and 080323 of Sanes brand black beans. Denouncement If any consumer finds any of the four batches of beans being sold, he must immediately report it to the authorities. The complaint can be made by calling Mapa (61) 3218-2089 or by consumer protection bodies. The Ministry of Agriculture recommends that consumers check whether they have any packages of the aforementioned lots and brands at home or in a restaurant. If you have purchased an inappropriate product, consumption must be stopped and you must contact the establishment where it was purchased so that the return or disposal can be made. Agência Brasil tries to contact companies.
