The National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon) received 1,059 complaints on the first day the channel opened to receive complaints about abusive prices charged by gas stations. The numbers refer to records made until 5 pm on Tuesday (23). Minas Gerais leads the list, with 149 complaints. Next come Ceará, São Paulo, Bahia and Alagoas, with 82, 79, 74 and 72 complaints, respectively. The initiative comes as a response from the government to the announcement, last week, of a reduction in fuel prices by Petrobras. With the opening of the reporting channel, Senacon intends to investigate abusive practices and apply the applicable sanctions to offenders, in accordance with the Consumer Protection Code. Exacerbated values are being registered using an online form, the Fair Price Mutirão To verify that the service stations are adequately passing on price variations to the final consumer and that they are complying with the rules and regulations in force, Senacon will coordinate, in this Wednesday, May 24th, the Fair Price Mutirão, throughout Brazil. With the support of Procons, the monitoring of fuel pricing in Brazilian cities will be carried out, with the highest and lowest value found in establishments being sent to Senacon. The report with the data will be presented to the public on May 30.
