The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF), Ednaldo Rodrigues, confirmed, this Friday (26), in a note released by the entity, that the coach of the under-20 men’s national team, Ramon Menezes, will command the main team (in a way interim) in the friendlies against Guinea, in Barcelona (Spain), and Senegal, in Lisbon (Portugal), on the 17th and 20th of June, respectively. The coach, who is in Argentina, where Brazil is disputing the under-20 World Cup, returns to the country after Saturday’s (27th) match against Nigeria, at 3 pm (Brasília time), in La Plata, for the third and last round of the first phase. On Sunday (28), at 11:30 am, he will announce his squad for the matches against Guinea and Senegal and will give a press conference at CBF headquarters, in Rio de Janeiro. The expectation is that, after releasing the list, Ramon will travel again and resume work with the under-20 team, which is seeking a place in the round of 16 of the competition. Ramon was the national team’s interim coach in the first appointment after the World Cup in Qatar. With a team full of new faces and players of Olympic age (sub-23), Brazil was defeated by Morocco, by 2 to 1, in the opponent’s home. Still according to the CBF note, the president stated that the entity “continues working with the objective of defining the new coach of the team”. The team has been without a coach since Tite left after the Qatar Cup. It is worth remembering that, after the friendlies, the next FIFA date (period of the international calendar focused on matches between national teams), in September, will mark the beginning of the Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The Brazilian debut will be at home, against Bolivia, still without a defined place and date.
