Brazil won three medals in the Huntsville (United States) stage of the Paralympic Cycling World Cup. Those responsible for the achievements were Lauro Chaman (silver), Gilmara Sol do Rosário (silver) and Carlos Alberto Soares (bronze). In the class C5 time trial (athletes with physical-motor impairments or amputees), Chaman covered the distance of 29.5 kilometers in 36min30, behind the Dutchman Daniel Gebru (35min43) and ahead of the Frenchman Kevin Le Cunff (37min11 ). The other silver medal for the Brazilian team was achieved in the WH2 handbike time trial (athletes who propel bicycles with their arms) by Gilmara Sol do Rosário. She was behind Roberta Amadeo and ahead of Angela Procida, both from Italy. And let’s go medals in cycling! 🚲Lauro Chaman and Gilmara do Rosário are silver 🥈 in the Cycling World Cup in the USA. The native from Goiás completed the 72.6 km course in 2h01min32 to take bronze. The champion was the Spaniard Ricardo Argiles, while the American Aaron KEITH finished second. Towards the 2024 Paris Games Brazil is already guaranteed two spots (one male and one female) at the Paris Games, defined by the International Cycling Union (UCI), at the conclusion of the 2022 ranking of nations. But the country’s presence can be expanded with the second allocation of vacancies: that of the Paralympic world ranking, whose points began to be added this year with the three stages of the World Cup. The count will also include the Glasgow Track and Road Paracycling World Championship (August 5-13 this year) and the 2024 Track World Championship in Rio de Janeiro. The stages of the World Cup are the most valuable in totaling the world ranking – 60 points for the winners -, second only to the World Cup (120 points).
