The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said this Tuesday (30) that, at the meeting with governors of the New Development Bank (NDB), topics such as the inclusion of new members in the group, as well as investment strategies aimed at ecological transition. Haddad recalled that the virtual meeting was the debut of former president Dilma Roussef in the Brics bank, an economic bloc formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. Expansion “The governors actually presented their considerations on the bank’s agenda,” said Haddad. “There was talk generally of the need to expand funds; study the inclusion of new members; and focus investments on strategic issues, above all investments in the so-called Global South, focused on the issue of ecological transition”, he added. Asked whether the bank would offer guarantees for loans to Brazilian investors who sell to Argentina, the minister said that “there was no room” for debates on this topic.
