The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Press Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic (Secom) released notes this Tuesday (30) in which they repudiate the attacks suffered by journalists at the end of the Summit of South American Presidents, held at the Itamaraty Palace . On the way out of the event, there was turmoil when some presidents stopped to give an interview to the press. The situation worsened at the time of the passage of the president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, when professionals of the press were attacked by agents of the security team. One of the journalists attacked was Delis Ortiz, a reporter for TV Globo. In a note, the MRE “regrets the incident in which there was aggression against press professionals, at the end of the Meeting of Presidents of South America. Steps will be taken to determine responsibilities.” Secom also stated in a note that “it stands in solidarity with journalist Delis Ortiz and repudiates any and all aggression against journalists. All possible measures will be taken to ensure that this episode never happens again.” The Union of Professional Journalists of the Federal District (SJPDF) regretted the incidents and demanded that government bodies “investigate any abuses committed against press professionals”, in addition to providing adequate infrastructure, such as a pulpit, for journalists to carry out their work. at events of this size.
