Today (31) is the deadline for submitting the Income Tax (IR) declaration for Individuals 2023. Until the beginning of this Wednesday (31), more than 37.7 million declarations had been submitted. The expectation of the Federal Revenue is that, by the end of the term, the number will reach 39.5 million declarations. Of the declarations already submitted, 23% were pre-filled, which, according to the Revenue, reduces the risk of errors. This model enables the use of information available from government databases. The Tax Authorities, however, warn that “all information must be checked and validated by the taxpayer before sending”. So far, 57% of declarations have been submitted in the simplified format; and 8% were rectified. Completion and delivery can be done through the Declaration Generator Program for the year 2023, available for download on the Federal Revenue website; through the Meu Imposto de Renda online service, through the e-CAC Portal or through the application for tablets and cell phones. Restitution Those who use the pre-completed statement or choose to receive the refund amount using the Pix key (provided that the key is the citizen’s CPF) will have priority in receiving the refund, always respecting legal priorities, such as the elderly, teachers and disabled people. Payment of refunds was divided into five monthly groups until September 29, according to the date of delivery of the declaration. This year’s declaration presents a novelty in relation to those who have investments in the Stock Exchange, in the futures market or in similar investments: the mandatory declaration for this public was made more flexible. Now, only those who sold shares whose sum exceeded BRL 40,000 or who made a profit of any amount from the sale of shares in 2022, subject to the collection of Income Tax, regardless of the value of the sale. Before, any taxpayer who had bought or sold shares in the previous year, in any amount, was required to declare. Takes Doubts The vehicles of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) gathered the main guidelines for adjusting accounts with Income Tax. To read and listen to all the articles in the IR 2023 Tira-Dúvidas series, access the special page. The taxpayer can also allocate up to 6% of the amount owed from the Income Tax to social projects and cultural activities, or 7%, if it includes sports projects. It is possible to make the allocation in the statement itself. The limit is up to 3% of the tax for each special fund – for children and adolescents; and the elderly person. These amounts are deducted from the Income Tax due, that is, the taxpayer does not pay anything extra for it. In cases where the citizen has tax to refund, the amount will be added to the refund. The Revenue also provided a step-by-step on its page on how to make the destination for individuals and companies. For audiovisual activities, in the area of culture and sports and para-sports projects, there is no direct destination option in the declaration, but it is possible to deduct the values of donations that were made throughout the calendar year, in this case 2022. destination is a mechanism that allows the application of part of the tax collected in a cause considered important for the citizen, reflecting the social responsibility and values of each taxpayer.
