In the women’s bracket for classes 6 to 8, Sophia Kelmer from Rio de Janeiro, Brazilian flag bearer at the 2023 Parapan de Jovens, and Lethicia Lacerda from Goiás, both from class 8, also reached the semifinals with two successes on Saturday. The first defeated the Guatemalan Anaili Arreola by 3 sets to 0 (partials of 11/5, 11/4 and 11/3) and the Venezuelan Charley Ramírez by 3 sets to 0 (triple 11/2). Already the Goiana passed by the Costa Rican Kristel Morales by 3 sets to 0 (11/1, 11/8 and 11/2) and the Salvadoran Nahomy Ashley Rivera by 3 sets to 0 (triple 11/1). Also on Saturday night, the opening ceremony of the tournament was held at the El Salitre Sports Unit. In addition to Sophia Kelmer, gaucho judoka Marcelo Casanova was also the Brazilian delegation’s flag bearer.
