Those in love with jazz and blues will be able to have fun with the musical style of their preferences from this Thursday (8) until Sunday (11). Great contemporary musicians and performers will perform on the São Pedro, Iriry, Boca da Barra and Costazul stages, the latter called Cidade do Jazz, set up outdoors for the traditional Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues Festival. The event reaches its 19th edition in the city of Região dos Lagos, located 170 kilometers from Rio de Janeiro. Experts and critics consider the meeting one of the best festivals of its kind in the world. Since 2003, when the Rio das Ostras Jazz & Blues Festival was created, there have been more than 550 concerts, 100 lectures and workshops for around 1 million spectators. Among the attractions, the event, which has already received Al Jarreau, David Sanborn, Ron Carter, Egberto Gismonti, Hélio Delmiro, Raul de Souza, Hamilton de Holanda, Romero Lubambo and Naná Vasconcelos, will again have the participation of Stanley Jordan. The program also features Bill Evans & The Vansband and Vanessa Collier, as well as Alexandre Borges Quinteto and Back2blues. For the organizers, so many high-level attractions over time have stimulated interest in high-quality music, in addition to giving the public opportunities to check out some of the greatest artists in jazz, blues and national and international instrumental music. One characteristic of the festival is to remain faithful to its initial proposal of public formation, which adds to the strengthening of tourism, income generation and business attraction to the city. “Even with all the difficulties and challenges faced, we arrived with more enthusiasm and desire than ever before for our 19th edition. Let’s toast to life and good music in one of the most charming resorts in the country. The best in the world at the best of Brazil in a democratic festival that puts music first”, highlights the organization on the festival’s website. According to the organizers, studies carried out for four years by the Getulio Vargas Foundation of Rio de Janeiro (FGV-RJ) show that the offer of culture with democratic and free access to the public fosters the economy with its continuity. In their view, the format of the event also allows them to “assume the social responsibility of extending their actions beyond the stage, creating partnerships in cultural and social projects throughout the year”. City Hall, produced by Azul Produções and supported by Like Produtora and the Ministry of Culture. Due to its importance in the music scene, the festival is part of the official calendar of events in the state of Rio de Janeiro.
