The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock confirmed another case of H5N1 avian flu in the country. The update was made this Monday (12) on the official platform that monitors the disease in Brazil and brings to 31 the total number of confirmed cases in wild birds – the majority in the species known as terns-de-bando. According to the folder, there are still eight ongoing investigations, with sample collection without conclusive laboratory results. The first case of avian flu in wild birds in Brazil was confirmed on May 15th. The ministry continues to warn the population not to collect sick or dead birds and call the nearest veterinary service. “There are no changes to the Brazilian IAAP free status [influenza aviária de alta patogenicidade] before the World Organization for Animal Health, as there is no record of commercial production”, added the federal government.
