The Ministry of Justice and Public Security (MJSP) once again extended the stay of the National Public Security Force in Rio Grande do Norte until July 12th. The agents have been operating in the state since March, when there was a wave of attacks provoked by a criminal organization. At the time, in just over ten days, the state recorded nearly 300 attacks such as fires and shots against public buildings, businesses, homes and vehicles. Police investigations indicated that the criminals acted in retaliation for conditions in the state’s prison system. According to the MJSP ordinance, published in the Official Gazette this Tuesday (13), National Force agents will act in joint and coordinated actions with security agencies in Rio Grande do Norte. The number of agents assigned for operations is not disclosed as a security measure, but the official document informs that the contingent to be made available complies with the planning defined by the Directorate of the National Public Security Force.
