Government launches first concession for recovery of the Atlantic Forest

The Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change launched this Thursday (22) the first concession notice for forest recovery and planting of native species of the Atlantic Forest. The folder also announced the resumption of the conversion of environmental fines in the country. In a note, the ministry informed that the national forests of Irati (featured image), in Paraná, and Chapecó and Três Barras, in Santa Catarina, will be auctioned, with the objective of recovering the biome in the region. The project foresees investments of BRL 430 million in the forest operation and in the restoration chain over the 35 years of the contract. “Until then, the SFB [Serviço Florestal Brasileiro] it had only granted concessions for sustainable management in native forests in the Amazon”, highlighted the folder.
