The President of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Alexandre de Moraes, confirmed this Tuesday (27) that President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has appointed lawyer Edilene Lobo to the position of deputy minister of the Court. The announcement was made at the opening of tonight’s session. Edilene’s name was on the list sent by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) to President Lula for appointment to the post. She is black and has connections with the PT in Minas Gerais. With the indication, it will be up to the TSE to set the date of the inauguration. The list was also formed by lawyers Daniela Borges, president of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB) in Bahia, and Marilda Silveira, who works in the electoral area in Brasília. According to the Constitution, it is up to the President of the Republic to appoint the lawyers who compose the court. The TSE is composed of seven ministers, three from the Federal Supreme Court (STF), two from the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and two lawyers with notorious legal knowledge, in addition to their respective substitutes.
