The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) has started the second session of the trial that could lead to the ineligibility of former president Jair Bolsonaro for eight years. The session began with the reading of the vote by the rapporteur, Minister Benedito Gonçalves (highlighted photo), which should last about three hours. The document is approximately 400 pages long. After the position of the rapporteur, the other Justices start to vote in the following sequence: Raul Araújo, Floriano de Azevedo Marques, André Ramos Tavares, Cármen Lúcia, Nunes Marques and the President of the Court, Alexandre de Moraes. If another session is needed to judge the case, the TSE has already reserved the third session for Thursday (29). If a minister makes a request for a view to suspend the trial, the deadline for returning the case is 30 days, renewable for another 30. With the recess of July in the superior courts, the deadline will rise to 90 days. The court judges Bolsonaro’s conduct during a meeting held in July last year, at Palácio da Alvorada, to attack the electronic voting system in front of ambassadors. The legality of the meeting was questioned by the PDT. On Thursday (22), on the first day of the trial, the TSE heard the arguments presented by the lawyers of the party that filed the action, Bolsonaro’s defense and the accusation of the Electoral Public Ministry (MPE).
