The security of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will be carried out by a hybrid structure, composed of military, civilian and federal police, as announced this Wednesday (28) by the Ministers of the Civil House, Rui Costa, and of Justice and Security. Public, Flávio Dino. The structure will be under the command of the Institutional Security Office (GSI). Since January, Lula’s security has been handled by the Extraordinary Secretariat for Immediate Security, commanded by a delegate from the Federal Police. The secretariat will be extinguished with the publication of the hybrid model, which should take place next Friday (30). Minister Rui Costa said that President Lula decided on a hybrid structure, which will act in a “consensual, harmonious way”, where everyone will work, “GSI and the Federal Police, to guarantee the safety of the president, vice president and their family members”. Flávio Dino explained that the president and vice president will be free to choose who will be responsible for their safety on trips and appointments. “The PF will participate twice: institutionally and with the assignment of federal police officers to the GSI, at the discretion of the President of the Republic and the Vice President, who are among the recipients of protection. If they want 10 FPs, they get ten. If they want 100, they will have 100, because, evidently, the entire Brazilian State is at the disposal of this fundamental mission of protecting the President of the Republic”, said Dino. The announcement was made after Lula’s meeting with Costa, Dino and the chief minister of the GSI, general Marcos Amaro.
