The profile of the Sergipe Superintendence of the Federal Highway Police (PRF) on Instagram was the target of an alleged hacker attack on Wednesday night (28). According to the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the folder to which the body is linked, the “criminals” changed the password to access the profile and published a request for Internet users to donate money to help former President of the Republic Jair Bolsonaro. The publication does not mention how the collected money would be used, but it has a strong political connotation, suggesting it is related to Bolsonaro’s need to defend himself in the various lawsuits he responds to. In addition to indicating data from an account supposedly available for those interested to donate any amount via PIX, the post also had a barcode (QR Code). According to the Ministry of Justice, the code directed victims to a page that criminals created to apply the coup. In a note, the PRF reported that it is already investigating the facts in order to take the necessary measures with the aim of preventing criminals from carrying out similar actions again. The agency also guarantees that it has already strengthened its defenses against cyberattacks by its media. Through his Twitter account, Minister Flávio Dino said that he had ordered the other 26 PRF state superintendencies, and also those of the Federal Police (PF), to suspend their social profiles until their safety was verified. Only the accounts of the central, national bodies are still active.
