The Pedagogical System to Support Bands Project returns this Monday (3), at 7 pm, to the Leopoldo Miguez Hall, at the School of Music of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), in another free concert with the Wind Orchestra of the institution, under the regency of Gabriel Dellatorre. Salão Leopoldo Miguez is located at Rua do Passeio, 98, in the central region of Rio. Specially prepared for the project, the repertoire brings new editions of works by Pixinguinha, Alberto Nepomuceno, César Guerra-Peixe and José Urcisino da Silva (Maestro Duda), which will be recorded and included in the series of publications Música Brasileira para Banda. The soloist will be trumpeter Aquiles Moraes, who has performed and recorded with numerous artists, including Maurício Carrilho, Nailor Proveta, Maria Bethânia, Chico Buarque, Zeca Pagodinho, Zé Renato, Lisa Ono, Luciana Rabello, Cristovão Bastos, Bibi Ferreira, Ney Matogrosso, Monica Salmaso, Mario Adnet and Hamilton de Holanda. The initiative is supported by the National System of Social Orchestras (Sinos), launched in July 2020 and formed by a network of music professionals who work in courses, workshops, concerts and festivals. Like the Bandas Project, Sinos is part of the Arte de Toda Gente program, a partnership between the National Arts Foundation (Funarte) and UFRJ. Orchestra The UFRJ Wind Orchestra is made up of graduate students in wind and percussion instruments at the School of Music, enrolled in the Orchestra Practice discipline. She acts directly in support of the baccalaureate in Band Conducting, offered by the school since 2011. The objectives are to provide the development of ensemble practice based on orchestral concepts, as well as to disseminate Brazilian and international literature for the formation of symphonic band, orchestra of woodwinds and orchestral woodwinds. Since November 2017, when it had its first organizational structure, the orchestra has maintained its concert season uninterrupted, having been responsible for dozens of first auditions of works by Brazilian and foreign composers. Project The Bandas Project aims to provide pedagogical support for the production of new works for music bands, offering artistic standards and interpretation references for ensembles from all over the country, mainly those located in cities in the interior. The proposal is that the presentations be made available in audiovisual, as well as the scores, in PDF format. The project also acts in the publication of articles, texts and manuals for the conductor of the band and, also, as support for the production of distance courses.
