Entries are open for the fifth edition of the Colegio del Año en Español contest, which will reward good practices in teaching the Spanish language in Brazilian schools. Public and private schools that teach Spanish as part of their curriculum can participate. The award is aimed at secondary education and elementary education II, a stage that goes from the 6th to the 9th grade. The contest is promoted by the Department of Education of the Embassy of Spain in Brazil, in collaboration with Colégio Miguel de Cervantes in São Paulo. In addition to schools, language centers linked to state or municipal departments of Education, whose students are mostly from basic education, can participate. The contest is divided into three categories – elementary schools, high schools and language centres. Among the prizes are scholarships for all-paid courses at Spanish universities and scholarships for a training event in Buenos Aires, Argentina, for teachers, as well as books and materials in Spanish for schools. The winners will also participate in an educational football experience offered by LaLiga. All participants will receive special gifts offered by sponsors. Entries can be made until the 6th of August. The finalists will be announced in the second half of September and the winners in the second half of October. All award details are available online.
