The Justice of Rio changed the rules for the benefit of the Intermunicipal Single Ticket, which will be valid, from now on, for users with a monthly income of up to R$ 3,205.20. Before, the value benefited workers who earned up to R$ 7,507.49. The decision of the Special Body of the Court of Justice of Rio must be complied with immediately by the state government. The measure considered unconstitutional State Law 8.297/19, an initiative of the Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj), which extended the benefit to those who earn up to R$ 7,507.49. The change guarantees that the public resources that finance the single intercity ticket are destined to the most vulnerable group of workers. Initially, the income limit will only be valid for new users, that is, for those who register for the benefit from this Wednesday (12). For those who already use the ticket there will be gradual re-registration. The State Secretariat for Transport and Mobility and Riocard Mais, the company that manages the electronic ticketing system, are defining the necessary operational measures to comply with the court order. Subsequently, the re-registration calendar will be published for those who already use the ticket. “It will be necessary to make a new declaration of income in the system. The schedule will be released on a Monday, says a note released by the secretariat. Until the new registration is completed, the benefit will remain unchanged for current users. How it works The Bilhete Único Intermunicipal is a benefit applied to public transport tariffs, such as: ferries, subway, train, municipal and intercity buses, legalized vans, BRT and VLT. Allows the use of up to two types of public transport, one of which must be intercity, within a period of three hours, paying a maximum amount of R$ 8.55.
