The result of the selection process for the Student Financing Fund (Fies) for the second semester can now be consulted on the Portal on the Internet. In this edition, the Ministry of Education (MEC) is offering 77,867 vacancies in 1,265 private institutions. Pre-selected candidates must access the portal. Financing Fies is a program instituted by Law nº 10.260, of July 12, 2001, which aims to grant financing to students in non-free higher education courses, with positive indication of the National System for the Evaluation of Higher Education (Sinaes) and offered by non-free higher education institutions participating in the program. As of 2018, Fies provides zero interest to those who need it most and a financing scale that varies according to the candidate’s family income. The borrower will start paying the installments respecting his income limit, causing the charges to be paid to decrease considerably.
