The Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Støre, told President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva that his country wants to expand partnerships with Brazil in areas related to the climate agenda and the fight against hunger. The two rulers spoke this Tuesday (11) by telephone. Through his Twitter account, the Brazilian president informed that the two heads of government spoke about the need for global cooperation, as well as measures aimed at protecting the environment. According to Planalto, during the conversation Lula thanked the prime minister for his country’s contributions to the Amazon Fund and invited him to visit Brazil. Lula spoke about the Amazon Summit, in August, a meeting that will bring together authorities from eight countries in the region, and with invitations also extended to Indonesia, the two Congos and France. In a note, Planalto reported that Støre “expressed interest in collaborating more with Brazil on issues such as food security and the fight against hunger and the management of the oceans, in addition to the traditional climate agenda”. Lula said that Brazil intends to structure a development project based on the Amazonian biodiversity, “giving the people who live there an opportunity to improve their lives”, and that the opening of investment opportunities in renewable energies “will reinforce the cleaning of the Brazilian energy matrix ”, in addition to paving the way for “concrete proposals to be presented at COP 30, in Belém”.
