Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined, this Wednesday (12), that an official medical board assess the state of health of former federal deputy Roberto Jefferson. The minister’s decision followed an opinion sent on Tuesday (11) to the Supreme Court by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). The evaluation will help Moraes decide whether to maintain Jefferson’s preventive detention, which is in the Bangu Penitentiary Complex, in Rio de Janeiro. According to lawyers, Roberto Jefferson needs proper medical treatment outside prison. According to supporters, he has already lost about 16 kilos. Jefferson has been in prison since October last year for offering armed resistance to the execution of the arrest warrant issued by Moraes. The warrant was issued after Jefferson posted a video on the internet in which he offended minister Cármen Lúcia with profanity. At the time, the former congressman fired rifle shots and threw grenades at the police officers who went to the scene. Due to the episode, he was indicted by the Federal Police for four attempted murders and became a defendant.
