The federal government authorized the filling of 3,026 vacancies in the federal public service, of which 2,480 vacancies through public tenders. The remaining 546 vacancies will be filled by nominating people approved in previous contests. The initial salary for these positions ranges from R$ 6,000 to R$ 21,000 per month. The Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) is the body with the highest number of vacancies – 895 –, followed by the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services, with 650, which will be filled through a competitive examination. Of these, 500 vacancies are for technical analyst of social policy (ATPS). According to the Minister of Management, Esther Dweck, the 500 vacancies are basically for all social ministries, not just the new ones. “Also includes MDS [Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social]includes Health, but many [vagas] for the Ministries of Women, Human Rights, Racial Equality, Indigenous Peoples. If authorized appointments are calculated (1,799), the increase in the number of professors and technicians at educational institutions (5,000) and the expansion of selection processes for temporary servants (8,141), the total authorized for this year alone exceeds 23,000 vacancies. “It is the biggest announcement in many years, as a result of this damming. In the years of the Lula and Dilma governments, the frequency of contests was higher. So, I didn’t need to do so much competition [de uma só vez]”, said Esther. According to the minister, since 2017, around 80,000 civil servants have been lost in the federal public administration because there was no replacement of staff. According to the ministry, between 2017 and 2023, the social area lost 15.7% of the workforce, in contrast to the period from 2002 to 2016, when the number of civil servants in the sector increased by 27%. As for the announcement of the nomination of candidates already approved, 257 people will be called to the Brazilian Institute of the Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama), 160 to the Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation (ICMBio), 102 to the Heritage Institute Historical and Artistic National (Iphan) and 27 for the National Mining Agency (ANM). These are the bodies authorized to hire public servants who have already passed public tenders – MGI/Disclosure The more than 3,000 vacancies to be filled should cost around R$ 546 million to the public budget annually. Education servants The Ministry of Management informed that it should publish, in the next few days, a joint ordinance with the Ministry of Education (MEC) for the distribution of 5,000 vacancies for teachers and administrative technicians of federal educational institutions. Vacancies were opened last week with the approval of Bill 12/2023 in the National Congress. According to Minister Esther Dweck, the priority is for the new open campuses, which are experiencing personnel difficulties. “The budget limit did not allow filling the existing vacancies, and especially the new campuses were very out of date in terms of staff. So, together with the MEC, we are going to carry out this redistribution to allow the process of expansion of universities and federal institutes throughout Brazil to continue”, said the minister.
