Young people in prison system regime, their families and former prisoners will receive training in courses offered by Senac-RJ. Starting in August, fundamental computer and socio-emotional skills classes will be offered, as well as training in different areas, such as technology, innovation, beauty, gastronomy, tourism, fashion, design, among others. The measure is a partnership between Senac RJ and the General Department of Socio-Educational Actions of Rio de Janeiro (Degase), linked to the State Department of Education. Young people will have access to free courses and will be able to choose what to study, in a regular learning environment at Senac-RJ units. According to Degase, around 700 minors are undergoing socio-educational measures. Recurrence reaches 46%. “We want to reduce this number to 4%, as our intention is for young people to continue taking courses after complying with the measures”, says the director of the department, Victor Hugo Poubel, in a note.
