Selection arrives in Brisbane, host city in the 1st phase of the Women’s Cup

The Brazilian team landed this Tuesday = (18th) in Brisbane, the Australian city that will host the team in the first phase of the Women’s World Cup, which starts on Thursday (20th). The choice of Brisbane as host coincides with the second game of the Brazilians in the group stage, when they will face the French at the local stadium. The opening of the World Cup will be at 4 am (Brasília time) on Thursday (20), at the Edem Park stadium, in Aucklabd (New Zealand). Brazil will play all group games in Australia. The debut will be against Panama, for Group F, next Monday (24th), at 8 am (Brasília time), at the Hindmarsh stadium, in Adelaide, almost a 3-hour flight from Brisbane. The players were greeted with enthusiasm and stopped to sign autographs. The team commanded by coach Pia Sundhage will do the first training session at 5 am (Brasília time) this Wednesday (19) – at 4 pm in Australia. The other matches of the team in the first phase of the World Cup will be against France, on July 29 (Saturday), at 7 am, in Brisbane, and against Jamaica, on August 2 (Wednesday), in Melbourne. The top two in Group F advance to the round of 16, where they will face the two classified in Group H (Germany, Colombia, South Korea and Morocco). The team with the best record in one bracket will face the runner-up in the other. First low in the selection Striker Nycole Raysla was recalled early this Tuesday (18), after suffering a sprain in his left ankle during training in Golden Coast, before the trip to Brisbane. The athlete’s cut occurred because there was no time for her recovery. Midfielder Angelina, one of the substitutes who traveled to Australia with the national team, was chosen by Pia Sundhage for the striker’s vacancy. The 23-year-old player will play her first World Cup in her career. Striker Nycole Raysla is out of the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
