The Liberal Party (PL) informed today (29) that it will adopt measures to guarantee the right to challenge judicial decisions without “suffering retaliation”. The positioning of the caption was disclosed in a press release. Last week, the president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, condemned the party for litigation in bad faith and imposed a fine of R$ 22.9 million. The decision was taken after the minister rejected a lawsuit that questioned alleged irregularities in the operation of electronic voting machines used in the second round of elections. To guarantee payment, Moraes ordered the blocking of resources from the Partisan Fund. The blockade was fulfilled on Friday (25), and the TSE found BRL 13.6 million in the caption’s account. In the note, despite not mentioning the TSE, the PL says that measures will also be taken to preserve freedom of expression and party activity. “The Liberal Party will adopt all appropriate measures to preserve freedom, the right to free parliamentary and party activity, the right to freedom of expression and, even more, the constitutional and democratic right to challenge judicial decisions without suffering any retaliation,” declared the caption.
