For the fourth consecutive year, this Wednesday (14th), Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC) was recognized with level 1 in the 6th Certification of the IG-Sest Governance Indicator. The assessment tool for federal state-owned companies verifies compliance with legal and non-legal provisions and good corporate governance practices. In the first two cycles, EBC ranked at level 2. The company was ranked one of the highest levels by obtaining a score of 9.68 in the index analysis. “Today was a great day for the EBC, it showed that we practice good governance practices at the EBC”, said the CEO of the EBC, Glen Valente. “Today, the level of the EBC is the same as that of Banco do Brasil, the same as that of Caixa Econômica Federal, of large companies that have gigantic departments just to take care of it. We at EBC practice this in our daily lives. That is, today was just a celebration, but it shows that we are doing this every day, we are complying with good governance practices. That’s why we were well placed in level 1”, he highlighted. IG-Sest Governance Indicator The 6th IG-Sest Governance Indicator Certification assessed 55 state-owned companies, 43 of which are directly controlled and 12 are subsidiaries. Among the evaluated state-owned companies, 14 were classified in the degree of governance of level 1 and another 14, in level 2. The others were not classified. Companies ranked at the highest level obtained scores from 8.06 to 10, calculated according to the methodology provided for in the regulation. With a focus on promoting equity, diversity and environmental responsibility, the current cycle was improved by the Secretariat for Coordination and Governance of State-owned Companies (Sest), starting to incorporate, in addition to part of the aspects already evaluated in previous cycles, recommendations and guidelines of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and good corporate governance practices.
