The governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia, authorized today (15th) the start of works to expand Line 15-Silver of the monorail, which should now reach Jacu Pêssego. According to the São Paulo government, two new stations – Boa Esperança and Jacu Pêssego – and a parking lot will be built. The investment will be R$ 1.8 billion and the completion of the work is scheduled for 2025. The work should benefit 90,000 people every day, reducing travel time from the far east zone to the center of São Paulo by half. The government informed that the new stations will follow the pattern of the others on line 15 and will be 15 meters high. The two will be installed in the central construction site of Avenida Ragueb Chohfi, composed of exposed concrete and coverings that facilitate ventilation and natural lighting. They will also have automatic platform doors and accessibility items. Boa Esperança Station will be the first inaugurated, being installed right after Jardim Colonial. The government’s expectation is that 7,500 passengers will pass through the station per day. Jacu Pêssego will have an expected demand of up to 80,000 passengers per day. Currently, line 15-Silver has 11 stations and 14.6 km and connects the southeast region to the extreme east of the capital, going from Vila Prudente to Jardim Colonial. With the expansion, the line will be 17.6 km long and should meet a demand of 480,000 passengers per day. Metro informs that it is still working to expand the line to Ipiranga.
