The city of São Paulo decided to accept the registration of carnival blocks that missed the deadline and formally notified the government. The reconsideration includes, for example, Tarado Ni Você, which pays homage to Caetano Veloso and is one of the most popular in São Paulo. The municipal secretary of Culture highlighted, in a note, that the decision was taken based on the reassessment of the routes already approved. “The measure was taken taking into account the importance of the blocks and all cultural manifestations and after analysis by the representative committee, and in conjunction with the various departments of the city hall and the state”, says the text. Numbers The street carnival in the city of São Paulo will have 511 authorized parades. Most of the blocks will leave in the west zone, where 145 parades are planned, and in the center, with 121 blocks. The party includes the pre-carnival on February 11th and 12th, and the post-carnival, on February 25th and 26th, in addition to the extended holiday from the 18th to the 21st of the same month. The prefecture estimate is that this year’s party exceeds the 15 million people who were on the streets of the capital of São Paulo in 2020.
