The Municipal Urban Cleaning Company (Comlurb) collected 66.4 tons of waste this Sunday (19), on the first night of parades by the Special Group in the internal area of the Sambódromo, on Avenida Marquês de Sapucaí. Cleaning the external area generated 19.1 tons of garbage. Since the beginning of the parades, on Passarela do Samba, the amount of waste has reached 264.4 tons, of which 244.9 tons are organic waste and 19.5 tons are recyclable materials. In the parades of the Bronze Series schools, on Avenida Ernani Cardoso, in Cascadura, this Sunday night, 7.8 tons of waste were generated, accumulating 14.2 tons of garbage since the beginning of the parades on the new stage of Rio’s carnival. In the street blocks, since the beginning of the pre-carnival, on the 4th, Comlurb collected 466.2 tons of waste, 138 tons of which in the associations this Sunday. Public Order The Municipal Secretariat for Public Order (Seop) and the Municipal Guard of Rio (GM-Rio) applied 412 fines and towed 40 vehicles this Sunday around the Passarela do Samba. The agents seized more than 5,000 products sold illegally, such as gas cylinders, advertising signs and carts for selling hot dogs and sandwiches. Another 388 irregular street vendors were also removed from the streets. Municipal guards referred eight people to the public health network who suffered from sudden illness due to the strong heat when participating in the blocks. There was a record of arrest after being caught in the act of robbery, in the Leopoldina region, by a team from the Dog Operations Group (GOC), which was working in Operation Carnival. Since last Friday (17th), inspectors have imposed 1,084 fines on vehicles, towed 148 for irregular parking, and removed 996 illegal street vendors from the streets. Health The teams from the Municipal Health Secretariat (SMS), in more than 11 hours of operation on the first night of the parade of the Special Group Samba Schools, at the seven medical stations installed on Marquês de Sapucaí, assisted 505 people, of which 33 had to be transferred to municipal hospitals. Most patients sought assistance due to intoxication due to excessive alcohol, foot injuries, sprains, malaise and blood pressure spikes. Teams from the Municipal Institute of Sanitary Surveillance, Zoonoses Surveillance and Agricultural Inspection (Ivisa-Rio) seized, around the Samba Walkway, 11 pots of hair styling ointments, which are prohibited by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) for means of precautionary interdiction or collection order. A device for aesthetic laser procedures was seized. Ivisa-Rio collected 22 food samples for analysis by the Municipal Public Health Laboratory (LASP) and placed stickers on 140 plates with information about the legislation restricting smoking in fully or partially closed collective spaces. Agents from the Health Surveillance Superintendence also work at the Sambódromo, carrying out epidemiological monitoring and being alert to any unusual scenario that poses a risk to public health. Basic health surveillance training and guidance was given to the teams at the medical centers and information was aligned on possible occurrences and notifiable diseases. In addition to Sapucaí, SMS is present at the street carnival. There are four medical stations that will operate during all weekends in February to support a total of 49 blocks of circuits in the city center and south zone. Yesterday, the posts in the blocks served 63 people. Two of them needed to be removed to network hospitals. Since the beginning of the month, the street carnival posts have already handled 242 calls with 19 removals.
