Next Friday (24), the deadline for registrations for the first edition of 2023 of the exam to obtain the Certificate of Proficiency in Portuguese Language for Foreigners (Celpe-Bras). The tests will be applied on the 25th, 26th and 27th of April, at posts in Brazil and abroad. The exam is the official Brazilian procedure to certify proficiency in Portuguese as a foreign language. The diploma of proficiency in the use of the Portuguese language by higher education institutions serves for foreigners to enroll in undergraduate courses and postgraduate programs, as well as to validate the diplomas of foreign professionals who intend to work in the country. According to the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (Inep), the exam has a written part, which evaluates, in an integrated way, oral comprehension, imagery, reading and written production in Portuguese; and an oral part (face-to-face interaction), which assesses performance in comprehension and oral productions of the language. The value of the registration fee for Celpe-Bras 2023/1 will be a maximum of R$ 247.58, for application offices in Brazil; and US$ 115, for application stations located abroad. The amount must be paid by February 27, according to the guidelines established by the applicator post chosen by the participant. People registered to participate in the exam will be able to use the social name, in line with their gender identity. There will also be specialized care for people with low vision, blindness, monocular vision, physical disability, hearing impairment, deafness, intellectual disability, deafblindness, dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, autism spectrum disorder, as well as for pregnant women, nursing mothers, the elderly and/or person with another specific condition.
