The invasion of public lands of the Union, in Acre, and the commission of environmental crimes, are in the sights of the Federal Police this Tuesday (7). The action, called Terra Solta, has the support of Incra, Ibama and the Civil Police, and investigates, at the Antônio de Holanda Pole, in the municipality of Bujari, on the outskirts of the capital Rio Branco, several crimes involving settlers and non-settlers. “In all, nine search and seizure warrants are being fulfilled and three precautionary measures prohibiting access and frequency to the Legal Reserve area and a court order suspending the activities of a legal entity”, informed the PF. The investigation began with complaints from Incra pointing to signs of invasion, subdivision and trade in an area within the Legal Reserve. “Environmental damage was estimated by the expert at more than R$ 8 million and should be subject to compensation”, informed the Federal Police. Based on the facts found, the suspects may be liable for the crimes of criminal organization, invasion of public lands of the Union, deforestation and ideological falsehood, among other crimes. Together, the penalties can exceed 20 years in prison. Operation Terra Solta is linked to the Peace in the Forest Project, established within the scope of the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police in Acre. The objective is the repression and investigation of invasions and deforestation of environmental areas protected by the Union. Today’s action inaugurates the Peace in the Forest Project, with a week of combating environmental crimes in Union settlement projects in Acre. More than 150 federal police officers will act in the fight against environmental crime.
