The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday (7th) Provisional Measure (MP) 1140/22, which establishes the Program to Prevent and Combat Sexual Harassment, Sexual Violence and other Crimes against Sexual Dignity. The text goes to the Senate for analysis. The MP had been edited by the federal government in October last year [https://agenciabrasil.ebc.com.br/educacao/noticia/2022-10/governo-cria-projeto-para-prevenir-assedio-nas-escolas], with an exclusive focus on preventing and combating sexual harassment of children and adolescents in educational institutions. During its course in the Chamber, federal deputy Alice Portugal (PCdoB-BA), rapporteur for the matter, expanded the scope of the program to cover all direct and indirect public administration, federal, state, district and municipal. The program also applies to all private institutions that provide public services through concession, permission, authorization or any other form of delegation. In these cases, the rules will be defined by a regulation. According to the text approved by the Chamber, the program will be structured with measures to prevent and face the practice of these crimes and to train public agents for the development and implementation of actions aimed at discussing, preventing, guiding and solving the problem in these bodies and entities. . The MP also provides for the adoption of educational campaigns on conduct and behavior that characterize sexual harassment and other crimes. The objective is to inform and make public agents and society aware of how to identify the occurrence of illegal conduct and the rapid adoption of measures for its repression. *With information from Agência Câmara.
