The Minister of Health, Nísia Trindade, announced this Friday (10th), after participating in an event at the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), that she will anticipate vaccination against influenza in the North Region, with the first shipments of immunizer arriving from next week. Typically, vaccination begins in April across the country. “Brazil is very unequal, and you cannot have a single vaccination schedule. We are anticipating in the North Region because there they suffer with the issue of the influenza virus in advance. The vision is to seek, as much as possible, to meet the regional differences in Brazil”, said the minister. With regard to the bivalent vaccine against covid-19, Nísia reinforced that the immunizer is a booster and that the individual must have taken at least two previous doses, according to scientific guidance. She said that, at this moment, the focus must be not only on encouraging people to receive the bivalent but also on completing the vaccination schedule. According to Nísia Trindade, there has already been an agreement with the states and municipalities to reduce the number of people who did not take the booster dose against covid-19, and the goal is to reach 90% of the population covered by the vaccination schedule. “We will be with this movement throughout the year, to get as close as possible to this goal. There are many difficulties due to fake news and other phenomena that impact. Our part is to facilitate access as much as possible”. The minister said that stocks of childhood vaccines were zero and insufficient, in the case of bivalents, when she took over the ministry. For this reason, she said, instead of specific campaigns, the government articulates an immunization movement, including covid-19. “With regard to children and adolescents, we are also seeking to intensify this vaccination with an action with the Ministry of Education for vaccination in schools, which is still being built”, she said. At the moment, there is no forecast for an increase in the target audience, because the ministry follows international guidelines. “But, in the case of diseases that may have an impact on another segment, we have permanent surveillance and study. This is what we did right away with the resumption of the Technical Advisory Committee on Immunization Policies, if there will be any changes. At this time, there is no indication of need”. In this first phase, priority will be given to immunization against Mpox for people at greater risk of developing serious forms, such as, for example, people living with AIDS and laboratory professionals. Ministry of Health, this initial target public represents around 16 thousand people.
