In search of justice, the Marielle Franco Institute has organized a full schedule of events that will take place throughout the day in Rio de Janeiro. The Justice Festival for Marielle and Anderson begins at 6 pm in Praça Mauá, the port area of the city, with the presence of the Minister of Racial Equality, Anielle Franco, sister of the councilwoman. The event marks half a decade since the still unsolved murder of councilwoman Marielle Franco and her driver Anderson Gomes. In the morning, the 11-meter-high “Marielle Gigante” sculpture was inaugurated at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), and the exhibition A Voz de Marielle, at the Museu do Amanhã, an installation that uses technology of augmented reality and recognition facial to connect images of the councilwoman with her speeches, in addition to works in honor of the councilwoman. Mass Also in the morning, a mass was celebrated by Marielle and Anderson at Nossa Senhora do Parto Church, next to Marielle’s statue, installed in Buraco do Lume, in downtown Rio. Marielle Franco Day On Monday (13), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva sent a message to the Chamber of Deputies asking for urgency to vote on the project that creates the Marielle Franco National Day to Combat Political Violence of Gender and Race, the be celebrated on March 14.
