The Brazilian João Chianca won the third stage of the World Surfing Circuit, held at Supertubos beach, in Peniche (Portugal). Last year I didn’t do well here and I had a bit of a strange feeling coming here. But I was totally wrong and today is the most amazing day of my life. It’s going to be unforgettable and I love Portugal”, he declared. In the big decision, João Chianca dominated the dispute from the beginning. He left Robinson in a sticky situation after taking a tube that earned him 7.83 points and then completed an even better wave for another 8.50. However, the best was left for the end, when Chumbinho completed another incredible tube to receive a 9.07 and increase his advantage, closing the dispute at 17.57 to 15.14. With this Tuesday’s victory, Chianca took second place in the world ranking with 22,170 points, just behind Robinson (23,885). Chumbinho is followed in the classification by two other Brazilians, the third place Filipe Toledo (16,075) and the fourth Caio Ibelli (14,150).
