Federal civil servants held assemblies this Thursday (16) in several states to vote on the 9% readjustment presented by the government last week. This Friday (17), the proposal will be put to the vote in a national plenary. Last week, the Ministry of Management and Innovation in Public Services raised from 7.8% to 9% the proposed readjustment in the linear salary of all civil servants starting in May. The government also offered an increase of R$ 200 in food allowance, from R$ 458 to R$ 658. The proposal has an impact on the coffers of R$ 11.2 billion, already foreseen in this year’s budget. In addition to the measures with budgetary impact, the government offered the repeal of administrative acts harmful to civil servants and public services and committed to resuming the sectoral negotiating tables with the various Executive careers. The main entities of public servants recommended voting until this Friday on the proposal, which they call an “emergency readjustment”, but avoided issuing an official position on approval or rejection. “We have to officially present a response to the government by the next 20th and then we are going to make a long day at the National Congress, where the formality will be forwarded through a bill”, said the secretary general of the Confederation of Workers at the Federal Public Service (Condsef/Fenadsef), Sérgio Ronaldo da Silva. Condsef/Fenadsef concentrates 80% of the employees of the Federal Executive Branch. The Permanent National Forum of Typical State Careers (Fonacate), which brings together more than 200,000 public servants, also did not issue a recommendation to approve or reject the proposal. He just informed that assemblies are being held and that, next Tuesday (21st) he will promote a breakfast with parliamentarians to discuss an agenda for public service agendas in Brazil. If civil servants accept the proposal, the government will forward a bill to the National Congress to create space for the readjustment in the 2023 Budget. After the amendment, another bill will deal with the salary readjustment, considering budgetary and legal limits.
