The Attorney General’s Office (PGR) denounced today (20) to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) over 150 accused of participating in the anti-democratic acts of January 8. The new complaint involves 16 accused of acting as executors and 134 identified as instigators of the crimes. So far, 1,187 people have been denounced for the acts. According to the PGR, the 16 accused were arrested red-handed inside the Planalto Palace on the day of the coup acts and are free. They had their prison replaced by precautionary measures, such as the use of electronic anklets and a ban on maintaining contact with other investigated persons. The group is accused of the crimes of armed criminal association, violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law, qualified damage against the Union’s property and deterioration of listed property. The group of 134 denounced were arrested at the Army barracks and later released subject to compliance with precautionary measures. In this case, they are accused of inciting the animosity of the Armed Forces against the Constitutional Powers and criminal association. According to the balance sheet released last week by the STF, of the 1,400 arrested for the attacks, 294 (86 women and 208 men) remain in the Federal District penitentiary system. The others were released because they no longer represented a risk to society and investigations.
