The federal government launched a campaign against sex tourism. Dubbed “Tourism respects women”, the action takes place after an episode in which North American tourists attended a party in São Paulo, organized by “dating coaches” hired to help them conquer Brazilian women. The case is investigated by the Brazilian police authorities. According to the Ministry of Tourism, the campaign provides for the dissemination of videos on the fight against sex tourism in the country and will involve government agencies and companies in the tourism sector. In a first video, released on social networks, the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Carneiro, and of Women, Cida Gonçalves, warn that sexual harassment and sexual harassment are crimes and must be reported. “I want to clarify that sexual exploitation is not tourism, it is a crime. We need to take a stand and report situations like these to the competent authorities,” said Minister Daniela Carneiro. To find out how to report it, just call Dial 100. “We, here at the federal government, are vigilant to protect women from any and all types of violence and misogyny. Government launches campaign against sexual harassment – Press Release/Ministry of Tourism Understand the case On the 20th, the president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, asked the Federal Police to investigate the group Millionaire Social Club (MSC), suspected of sexually exploiting Brazilian women. The North American group offers relationship courses for men and usually visits cities in countries in Latin America and Southeast Asia so that men can test these alleged techniques. At the end of February, the coaches promoted a party in the capital of São Paulo and allegedly invited Brazilian women to be guinea pigs without their knowledge. Some of the women who attended the party saw the photos on the group’s social networks and filed a complaint. The Civil Police of São Paulo opened an investigation against the two foreigners who would be leaders of the group and who should be called to testify. On social media, they claim that there was consent from all party participants and that giving tips on how to use relationship apps is not a crime.
