Midfielder Casemiro called for extreme punishments for acts of racism in football, such as those suffered by striker Vinicius Júnior last Sunday (19) in the classic between Real Madrid (Spain) and Barcelona (Spain). The captain of the Brazilian team stated that the Spanish League must act energetically against people who commit these crimes. “It is a very serious action, because we always talk, and people continue to commit [agressões racistas]and there must be a very serious punishment […]. I ask that the Spanish League takes action, as this is not legal for the person Vinicius Júnior, for the competition and for football”, declared the Manchester United (England) player, who until last season was also in Spanish football, defending Real Madrid. During the period of preparation of the Brazilian team for next Saturday’s (25th) friendly against Morocco (starting at 7 pm at the Ibn Batouta stadium, in Tangier), Vinicius Júnior himself spoke of the racist attacks he has suffered in Spanish football. According to the attacker, this sad reality inspired him to think about the possibility of starting a project to combat racism: “It’s always very difficult to talk about racism. More and more I’m maturing more to talk better about the subject. My family and I are thinking of doing, soon, an anti-racist project for black children in Brazil”. In last Sunday’s derby between Barcelona and Real Madrid, Vinicius Júnior suffered racist attacks from fans of the Catalan team, who shouted “die Vinicius”. After the episode, the Spanish Football League presented the eighth formal accusation to the Justice of Spain due to attacks against the Brazilian.
